ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (01 position)

The University is hereby inviting applications from the public for the under listed Academic and Non-Academic Positions.

1. POSITION: ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – HUMAN RESOURCE (01) – ADS / PTS 01

JOB PURPOSE: To contribute towards the human resource function in the University

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Performance management – coordinating staff performance target setting, performance appraisals and identifying training needs for staff 

2. Report and Minute Writing 

3. Resourcing, placement and orientation of new staff 

4. Management of staff contracts and separations 

5. Any other duties assigned by supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1. A Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (05) credits or better that must include English Language and Mathematics

2. An earned Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Law, Business Administration or any related field from a reputable and accredited University

3. At least two (02) years’ work experience in a similar or equivalent role

4. Wide experience in Performance Management and employment contract Management

5. Conversant with the Zambian labour laws

6. Good interpersonal and managerial skills 

7. Leadership skills

8. Good analytical report writing and presentation skills 

9. Functional computer skills

10. Innovative, team player with high level of energy drive and initiative 

11. Emotionally stable 

12. A fully paid up member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management with a valid practicing licence


OTHER POSITIONS

2. POSITION: ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – COUNCIL (01) – ADS / PTS 01

JOB PURPOSE: To contribute towards the Corporate Secretarial function in the University

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Organizing Council meetings, recording minutes, and tracking resolutions. 

2. Prepare Council and Committee meeting agenda, record proceedings, and compile accurate minutes. 

3. Maintain and regularly update the directory and records of Council and Committee members. 

4. Oversee travel and logistical arrangements for Council and Committee members to ensure smooth conduct of meetings. 

5. Ensure proper record management of correspondence, and documentation related to Council and Committee operations. 

6. Monitor policy implementation and ensure proper record management of approved policies and procedures.

7. Perform any other related duties as directed by supervisor in support of effective governance and administration.

3. JOB TITLE: DRIVER – (01) POSITION –  ADS/PTS 08  

JOB PURPOSE: To drive carefully and ensure the safety of passengers and the vehicle in order to facilitate mobility of officers.

DUTIES AND KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAS)

1. Transport University staff and students on official duties to different destinations both locally and internationally

2. Responsible for keeping the University vehicles physically clean and out of accidents. Inspection of vehicle’s fitness: Undertakes the inspection of the vehicles allocated with respect to road worthiness so as to avoid road traffic accidents, unnecessary breakdowns and expenses

3. Ensure the University vehicles are properly checked (Inspection of each vehicle) i.e. check oil, water, petrol etc before taking any trip in or out of campus. 

4. Custodian of tools and equipment for university vehicles. e.g. spare wheel, spanners, jacks, triangle etc. 

5. Regular check of vehicles for regular maintenance requisitions. 

6. Drives carefully the vehicles allocated so as to ensure the safety and quick movements of officers. 

7. Ensures that all the journeys are authorised by completing the log-book in order to avoid unauthorised journeys.

8. Reports timely the occurrence of road traffic accidents in order that appropriate action is taken promptly.

9. Ensures that each vehicle is parked in a safe and authorised area to guarantee the vehicle’s safety.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

1.  A Grade 12 School Certificate with at least a Credit in English Language 

2.   Valid Class C or CE Driver’s Licence 

3.   At least two (02) years’ work experience as a driver 

4.   Must be of sober character 

5.   Must be able to work with minimum supervision 

6.   Must be ready to work at odd hours 

7.   Knowledge of basic mechanics and defensive driving will be an added advantage   

4. SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (01 Position)

Job Purpose: To design, develop and produce learning and teaching material and to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake research activity in the University in accordance with the University’s strategy, policy and procedures. 

1. Lecturer in Food Science and Technology (01 Position)

Requirements

1. Grade 12 or Form V Certificate or its equivalent

2. An earned Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Safety or Food Technology, with at least a Merit from a reputable and accredited University 

3. An earned Master`s degree in Food Science, Food Technology or Food Safety, from a reputable and accredited University

4. A PhD in Food Science, Food Technology or Food Safety will be an added advantage

5. At least two (2) years teaching or research experience at tertiary level

6. Proof of research and publications will be an added advantage

7. Must be computer literate

8. Must be a member of a professional body
