The University is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions.

CENTRE FOR INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (01 Positions)

Job purpose: Responsible for planning, directing, leading, overseeing and providing leadership in the design, development, installation, management and maintenance of ICT in the University.

Main duties:  

  • Initiate and participate in the formulation/review of policies, strategies, technology plans, work manuals, procedures and related
  • Assess the University’s need for any and all computing technology and make appropriate recommendations for purchases and upgrades.
  • Oversee all aspects of ICT information security, protocol, compliance and management to protect ICT resources.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of applications and network systems to ensure optimum use of ICT infrastructure and resources
  • Give expert guidance in the application of Information Technology and Communication resources to support teaching, learning and research.
  • Ensure overall supervision of staff in order to facilitate efficient and effective operation of the department.
  • Ensure generation of financial resources for smooth operations of the department through consultancies and training

  

Minimum Qualifications and experience:

  • Grade Twelve (12) or Form five (V) School Certificate with 5 “O” Levels including Mathematics and English.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or  Information Technology
  • Master`s Degree in Computer Sciences , Information Technology or Information Systems Management  will be an added advantage
  • Must have networking experience or network professional Certification.
  • Must have Software Development and server administration experience
  • At least five (05) years of practical work experience in ICT Management, preferably in a higher learning institution.
  • Must have proof of valid membership of Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ)
OFFICE MANAGER (01 Positions)

Job purpose: To provide a comprehensive and professional PA/Administrative service to the Principal Officer (i.e. either the office of the Vice Chancellor or the Registrar) thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Offices. To ensure that all duties are carried out with the appropriate degree of tact and confidentiality.

Main Duties

  • Provide a comprehensive administrative/PA service to the Principal in conjunction with other colleagues.
  • Preparing confidential information and correspondences
  • Prepare correspondence including shorthand and manuscript typing of letters for signature.
  • To act as “gatekeeper” for the office of Vice Chancellor or Registrar’s Office.
  • Management of the office diary, including engagements of meetings within and outside the University and internationally.
  • Oversight of the official mail including strictly private and confidential and ensuring that all previous relevant correspondence is brought forward and attached.
  • Organising official travel arrangements both locally and international including booking of accommodation and providing brief regarding schedules/itineraries etc.
  • Responsible for office Cost Centre to ensure budget figures are maintained and reconciled monthly.
  • Any other related responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Grade Twelve (12) or Form five (V) School Certificate with 5 “O” Levels including Mathematics and English.
  • Shorthand speed of 120 words per minute or better and typing speed of 55/65 words per minute or better.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or Public Relations will be an added advantage
  • At least 2 years’ related experience.
STORES (01 Position)

ASSISTANT STORES CONTROLLER – (01)

Job Purpose: Stock Controller responsibilities include overseeing inventory audits and maintaining reports of purchases and pricing. To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with supply chain procedures and have good communication skills to interact with vendors, clients and internal teams.

Main duties

  • Responsible for the receipts, storage, maintenance, security and issue of stock.
  • To Plan the supply needs for the University under supervision of the Procurement and Stores Manager
  • To Liaise with the Schools and Units regarding supply operational requirement
  • To Maintain the Stores database, ensure its integrity and report the status to the supervisor
  • To ensure database accuracy for the movement of stock in the warehouse. When discrepancies are noted, initiate investigation for correction of database records as required.
  • To develop, review, monitor, access and manage technical contracts for the provision of support services.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  •  Grade Twelve (12) or Form five (V) School Certificate with 5 “O” Levels including Mathematics and English.
  • Diploma or CIPS Qualifications Level 4
  • Two (02) years of professional experience in supply chain, project/contract management or logistics support preferably in the field of Warehouse management
  • Experience in working in higher education is an advantage.
  • Must be a member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS)
AUDITS (01 Position)

ASSISTANT INTERNAL AUDITOR (01)

Job purpose: To be responsible for the maintenance of an up-to-date filing system for audit working papers, carry out routine audit investigations on a risk-based and recommend corrective action. To assist in conducting reviews of assigned organizational and functional responsibilities.

Main Duties

  • Actively participates in the preparation of work manuals, procedures and related documentation.
  • Inspects assets of the University to ensure that they are promptly recorded, accounted for and adequately safeguarded against risk and misappropriation.
  • Participates in the preparation of departmental annual budgets.
  • Inspects and verifies negotiable securities and accounts receivables and payables.
  • Verifies all payments and procurement of goods and services.
  • Participates in the preparation of quarterly and annual operational performance reports.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade Twelve (12) or Form five (V) School Certificate with 5 “O” Levels including Mathematics and English.
  • Level II ACCA, CIMA Management Level/ZICA Licentiate/ Diploma in Accountancy or its equivalent
  • Bachelor of Accountancy will be an added advantage.
  • Fully paid up ZICA member.
  • At least two (02) years of practical work experience in an audit environment will be an added advantage.
SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES (05 Positions)

Job Purpose: The job purpose for each of the lecturing positions below shall be: to design, develop and produce learning and teaching material and to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake research activity in the university in accordance with the University’s strategy, policy and procedures.

Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences(01)

Requirements

  • Must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Five (05) Credits or better that must include English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  • Must have a BSc in Biomedical Sciences
  • Must have an MSc in Biomedical Sciences
  • Having a PhD in Biomedical Sciences or related field is an added advantage
  • Must have a valid practicing license from the appropriate professional body

 

Lecturer in Public Health(01 position)

Requirements

  •  Must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Five (05) Credits or better that must include English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  • Must have a BSc in Public Health
  • Must have an MSc in Public Health
  • Having a PhD in Public Health or related field is an added advantage

Lecturer in Clinical Sciences(01 position)

Requirements

  •  Must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Five (05) Credits or better that must include English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  • Must have a BSc in Clinical Medicine/Sciences or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
  • Must have an MSc in Clinical Medicine/Sciences
  • Having a PhD in Clinical Medicine/Sciences or related field is an added advantage
  • Must have a valid practicing license from the appropriate professional body

 

Lecturer in Environmental Health(01 position)

Requirements

  •  Must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Five (05) Credits or better that must include English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  • Must have a BSc in Environmental Health
  • Must have an MSc in Environmental Health
  • Having a PhD in Environmental Health or related field is an added advantage

Lecturer in Pharmacy(01 position)

Requirements

  •  Must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Five (05) Credits or better that must include English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  • Must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy
  • Must have an MSc in Pharmacy
  • Having a PhD in Pharmacy or related field is an added advantage
  • Must have a valid practicing license from the appropriate professional body.
SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (01 Positions)

 Job purpose: To ensure that the relevant machines and apparatus are available for use in the laboratory. They also carry out research into highly specialised matters and record their findings.

 Main duties:

  • Ensuring the functionality and safety of the laboratory.
  • Carrying out experiments and research projects.

 iii. Recording the results of any experiments that take place.

  • Assisting students with research projects
  • Demonstrating methods and experiments to students
  • Controlling the materials kept in stock

 vii. Ensuring that machines and materials are ready for use.

 viii. Managing the lab timetable and scheduling machine use.

 Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • Grade Twelve (12) or Form five (V) School Certificate with 5 “O” Levels including Mathematics and English.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Science or its equivalent
  • At least 2 years related experience working in a textile and clothing industry, or skills training centre.
