The University is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions.

VICE CHANCELLORS OFFICE (02 positions)

Job purpose: To provide a comprehensive and professional PA/Administrative service to the Principal (i.e. either the office of the Vice Chancellor or the Registrar) thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Offices. To ensure that all duties are carried out with the appropriate degree of tact and confidentiality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Grade twelve (12) School Certificate including English and Mathematics or its equivalent.
  • Shorthand speed of 120 words per minute or better and typing speed of 55/65 words per minute or better.
  • At least 2 years’ related experience.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Comprehensive knowledge of University vision, core values, policies, procedures and other regulations.
  • Proficient and eloquent in the English Language.
  • Wide experience of Office Practice and Office Management
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A well-developed knowledge of the University system and structures.
  • High level of initiative and innovation

Position Overview

The responsibilities of the SAVC are primarily administrative, and require great diplomacy, discretion, resourcefulness, emotional intelligence and flexibility, as the jobholder will be working closely with a diverse range of people within and outside of the organization. The role provides great exposure to the frontline activities and inner workings of the University.

Job purpose: To provide executive support to the Vice Chancellor in the planning, coordination, implementation and oversight of academic, strategic, and business functions of the office; as well as perform a wide range of operational and logistical duties, in liaison with Principal Officers and other staff, as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Grade twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5) credits or better including English and Mathematics or its equivalent.
  • A degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, Human Resource or any related Social Science.
  • A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of Three (3) years relevant administrative working experience in a higher education environment will be an added advantage

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Verifiable evidence of high performance in a similar role
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and supervisory skills, with very high standards of written and oral expression;
  • Strong IT and presentation skills, including familiarity with a wide range of reporting and communication packages
  • Demonstration of congruence between personal aspirations and the vision and aspirations of Mukuba University will be an added advantage

FINANCE (01 position)

Job purpose: Assist in directing and overseeing all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the university in order to ensure transparency, accountability and value for money.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Grade twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5) credits or better including English and Mathematics or its equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional finance qualification (e.g., ACCA, ZICA or CIMA) will be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in a senior finance management role, preferably within the education sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a finance team.

SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICAL AND NATURAL SCIENCES LECTURERS (03 positions)

Job purpose: To produce highly qualified nursing and midwifery graduates.

Main duties: Self-motivated to teach, conduct research and carry out academic related nursing responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Five (05) Credits or better that must include English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  • Must have a BSc in Nursing.
  • Having an MSc in Nursing or related field will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a registered member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia with a valid practicing license.
  • Must have at least two years’ experience as a practicing nurse in a reputable health institution. Having experience as a tutor/lecturer in a reputable Nursing training institution will be an added advantage.

Job purpose: To assist in the production of qualified nursing and midwifery graduates.

Main duties: To carry out clinical and academic related responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Five (05) Credits or better that must include English Language, Mathematics and Science.
  • Must have a Diploma in Nursing.
  • Having a BSc in Nursing will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a registered member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia with a valid practicing license.
  • Must have at least two years’ experience as a practicing nurse in a reputable health institution. Having experience as a clinical instructor in a reputable Nursing training institution will be an added advantage.

SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (02 Positions)

Job purpose: To produce highly qualified nutritionists.

Main duties: To teach, conduct research and carry out academic related responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Grade twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5) credits or better including English and Mathematics or its equivalent.
  • An earned Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Science, Human Nutrition, Dietetics or Public Health Nutrition with at least a Merit from a reputable and accredited University.
  • An earned Master`s degree in Nutritional Science, Human Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition from a reputable and accredited University;
  • A PhD in Nutritional Science, Human Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition will be an added advantage.
  • At least two (2) years teaching or research experience at tertiary level;
  • Proof of research and publications will be an added advantage;
  • Must be computer literate

Job purpose: To produce highly qualified Hospitality and tourism management graduates.

Main duties: To teach, conduct research and carry out academic related responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Grade twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5) credits or better including English and Mathematics or its equivalent.
  • An earned Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with at least a Merit from a reputable and accredited University.
  • An earned Master`s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from a reputable and accredited University;
  • A PhD in Hospitality and Tourism management will be an added advantage.
  • At least two (2) years teaching or research experience at tertiary level;
  • Proof of research and publications will be an added advantage;
  • Must be computer literate

DEAN OF STUDENTS (01 Position)

Job purpose:  To assist the Dean of Students in resolving student’s challenges and securing a habitable environment of hostels.

Minimum qualifications and experience required

  • Grade twelve (12) School Certificate with Five (5) credits or better including English and Mathematics or its equivalent.
  • Certificate in Counselling or Electrical Engineering
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the education sector

Key skills and competencies required

  • Most be responsible, mature, reliable and have high level of confidentiality.
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Should be prepared to work beyond normal hours.
  • Experience of contributing to the development of policies and procedures
  • Excellent communications skills to a range of audiences including staff, students and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a manner appropriate to the situation
  • An awareness and understanding of Equality and Diversity matters
